Broadcast NOW! is a career awareness program that gives students an authentic learning experience by pairing school communications teams with local broadcast stations. Using a structured timeline and curriculum guide, students will be exploring the careers within broadcasting as well as the amazing changes that are happening in the industry right now. With individualized feedback from an Emmy® Award winning producer and a dedicated broadcast station contact, this student-led project will allow students to create portfolio quality media, elevate their 21st century skills, and distribute their work to a wide audience. These videos are scripted, shot, produced and edited by students enrolled in Adavanced Media classes. As part of the experience students are putting together a media distribution plan. Our plan calls for a new video (there are five total) to be published on five seperate days. Those productions will include posts to the district YouTube page, district Facebook Page, the HC Observer Instagram page, and an article to be run in the Indiana Gazette sometime between April 5 and April 8. The four month program culminates in an awards banquet in Harrisburg in late April.
The schedule of release are as follows:
April 3: "Career Story" - Creative Director: Produced by Angelo Alexander and Hannah Arone (both Juniors), featuring local radio host Todd Marino.
April 4: "Career Story" - On-Air Talent: Produced by Morgan Nagy (Sophomore), featuring the voice of the River Valley Panthers, Jake Slebodnick.
April 5: "Career Story" - Operations Management: Produced by Levi Loose (Sophomore), featuring Andy Hart.
April 8: "Career Story" - Studio Engineer: Produced by Oshen J. Maratita (Junior), featuring John Smathers.
April 9: 3 Minute Feature about the broadcasting field: Produced by Oshen J. Maratita, Levi Loose, and Morgan Nagy.
