PIAA Official Recruitment Information

The Indiana County Officials Chapters in various sports (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball, Track & Field , Volleyball) are looking to increase the number of officials in their respective chapters. The PIAA instituted  a Junior Officials (16 & 17 year olds) in an attempt to get teenagers interested in officiating.

The Indiana County Officials chapters plan to conduct a Recruitment Night at Primanti's  Brothers at the Regency Mall on November 20, 2025 from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm.  Students, as well as all members of the community, who have any interest in officiating, are invited to attend the recruitment night.

In addition, there will be a meeting for all students who may be interested in officiating on November 13th during the BUG period for the day.

About the Event:

The PIAA is in need of both officials, and Junior Officials (16 and 17 year olds) and YOU are perfect for it!

Officials are needed in ALL sport, but we are focusing on the eligible sports you can officiate next school year – football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track & field. Junior officials can officiate elementary, 7th, 8th and 9th grade games and must officiate the contest with a veteran official (mentor) who will help you!

There are many benefits to becoming an official now such as:

  1. Extra money
  2. Be involved with a sport
  3. Build your resume (employers and colleges LOOK for high school athletes and officials)
  4. Stay active

If you are interested, the process is easy. Contact me at [email protected] or call/text me at 724-840-3796.

For Jr. officials, the PIAA has waived the registration fee for you to take the exam! It is an open book exam and I can get you a practice exam (the PIAA will send a rules book and practice exam when you register also). We can arrange for help with the exam, then after you pass, you will join a chapter, get a uniform and start working contests!

We would LOVE to have you officiate with us in ANY sport! Please contact me ASAP if you have any interest in becoming a PIAA official!
